Dr. Ishtiaq Hussain is currently working as  an Assistant Professor in the Department of History, Aliah University Kolkata. He has pursued his Ph.D and M.A from  Centre of Advanced Study , Department of History, Aligarh Muslim University. He has also qualified National Eligiblity Test and State Eligiblity Test conducted by UGC and J&K State SET Agency respectively. He has been recipient of Maulana Azad National Fellowship awarded by UGC. His area of specialization and interest is Muslim Intellectual History, Muslim Politics , Muslim Women and  Muslim Reformism in Colonial India.
