The Department of Geography is one among few departments which as first of Aliah University established in the year 2009. The first session began with only 20 students of 2-Year M.Sc. and only 06 students of 5-Year Integrated M.Sc. in 2009-10. The department presently offers 3-Year B.A./B.Sc.(Hons.) and 2-Year M.A./M.Sc. courses. Besides, the Ph.D. degree programme is also conducted by the Department. Research and teaching are given equal importance by the faculty members. Research projects are encouraged to develop innovative and analytical approach to learning. Experts in different allied fields are also invited for interaction and curriculum development, whenever necessary. The Department also plans to develop a state of art Remote Sensing and GIS courses for the students so that they can have access to the most updated knowledge of this branch of Geography which is emerging as a potential area of recruitment.
