Prof. Sharmistha Chatterjee (M.A., Ph.D, B.T, P.G.D.T.E.) is Professor at the Department of English in Aliah University, Kolkata, West Bengal. Her doctoral thesis is on Indian Poetry in English. She is also closely associated with the English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad . She has been a trainer and a local co-ordinator in the project, Capacity Building for Women Managers in Higher Education, from 2007 to 2013 funded by University Grants Commission, India. Her wide range of interests include, South Asian Literature, Shakespeare, Translation studies, Post-colonial studies, Eco-criticism, Gender Studies, Modern Linguistics and English Language Teaching. She has been published widely in National and International books and journals. Her U.G.C. sponsored, Minor Research Project has been published as a book titled Language and Power (a sociolinguistic study of the works of Amitav Ghosh), by Lap-Lambert, Germany. Two of her recent, edited books are: an anthology of translated short stories entitled, Missing Links: Stories from Bengal and Beyond, Authors Press, New Delhi and an anthology of critical essays entitled: Travel Writing: Travel and Writing published by Viswakosh Parishad, Eastern India.
